JLEP Wellness Project

“The JLEP Wellness Project is designed to provide experiential programming that provides high quality, hands on and interactive curriculum within the “JLEP Wellness Wheel” to different organizations throughout the El Paso Community with the goal of raising awareness of health and wellness in the community. The “JLEP Wellness Wheel” has 5 Health Topics including Literacy & Intellectual Health, Healthy Bodies: Fitness & Nutrition, Music & Healing Arts, Healthy Minds and STEAM. Each of the 5 Wellness arms rotate between 12 Community Organizations so that each recipient gets scheduled programing from each of the different topics throughout the year. The rotating programming framework allows for multiple organizations to receive the programming they need, while providing committee members with flexibility to determine whether they will repeat activities across organizations or create new ones. This provides structure and consistency for both the committees and organizations receiving the programming, while also giving the committees the flexibility to be creative based on their resources. Project Partners: Rio Grande Cancer Foundation, Candlelighters, Sunny Farms, Children’s Hospital, Boys & Girls Club, La Nube, Center Against Sexual & Family Violence (CASFV), Child Crisis Center, Segundo Barrio, El Paso Aphasia Connection Center, Women’s Preparatory Network and El Paso Public Libraries. Project Collaborators: Insights, Rebuilding Together El Paso and Books are Gems. In addition to the rotating curriculum, each committee will facilitate 1-2 Done-in-a-Days in collaboration with local organizations and events including the Texas Book Festival, the El Paso Community Foundation and Reading Rockstars,  Special Olympics, El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank, CASFV Sensory Gym, Moms on Board Back to School Drive, La Nube and Insights.  The JLEP Wellness Project aligns with JLEP’s Area of Impact to focus its volunteer and funding efforts on initiatives that promote and embrace awareness of mental and physical health. ”
