JLEP Wellness Collaborative
The JLEP Wellness Collaborative is a community health initiative dedicated to enhancing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of El Pasoans through partnerships with local nonprofits. Combining nutrition, education, compassionate care, and wellness activities creates a meaningful community impact. Signature programs include Healthy Bites, Butterfly Haven, Connections: Renew, Restore, Recharge!, and Instant Impact. Together, these initiatives promote health, healing, and connection across the El Paso community.
Our wellness programming is a systematic approach to promoting overall well-being of individuals through a variety of activities, services and initiatives. These programs aim to address physical, mental, emotional and social aspects of health in order to help children and young adults lead healthier lives. We will partner with 4 local nonprofits referred to as our, Wellness Partners, throughout the next fiscal year to deliver our programing on a rotating schedule, one event per quarter at each Wellness Partner, for sixteen total events. Our chosen Wellness Partners for the year are: Center Against Sexual and Family Violence, El Paso Children’s Foundation, Fronterra Land Alliance and Segundo Bario Futbol Club. Each committee will deliver carefully crafted programing with examples as follows:
- Art- The committee will host four events next year, rotating one event at each Wellness Partner using art as a medium for creativeness. Programming will consist of creating papel picado in the fall and learning about the Hispanic heritage, as well as creating vision boards using eco friendly materials on a nature walk.
- Literacy- The committee will design four events for children at our Wellness Partners focusing on reading and learning. The events will include books on themes such as “Holidays Around the World” and “What do You Celebrate?”. Additionally, events books relevant to the Wellness Partner such as sports and young athletes.
- STEAM- The committee will work with our Wellness Partner, CASFV, to design, create and implement an outdoor sensory gym. In addition, the committee will host four events at each of our Wellness Partners to build rockets, robots, and learn about water testing and soil analysis with our outdoor Wellness Partner.
- Mind & Body- Physical and mental health are closely interconnected with one often influencing the other, for this coming year, JLEP has combined these 2 committees into 1. The committee will support the Girl’s Soccer Program at Segundo Barrio and serve as mentors to their participants. The committee will also plan four events fostering learning about what it means to maintain a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally.
