Path to Recovery
The Junior League of El Paso (JLEP) will again partner with the Aliviane Women and Children’s Residential Facility to assist residents on their path to recovery from substance and alcohol abuse. JLEP members will attend training sessions to learn how these issues impact the women and children of our border community and take this opportunity to use social media to help battle the stigma associated with substance abuse. JLEP Members will act as guest speakers and host monthly interactive workshops on topics that will directly impact the lives of residents for success post- treatment—educating them with life skills to help boost their self-esteem and prepare them for their future. New this year: JLEP will acquire laptops and accessories to create a computer-based curriculum to aide and subsidize the skills learned during the monthly workshops. JLEP Members will work with Aliviane clients and their children to learn their stories as well as celebrate their achievements.
We will further provide funds or donations to complete refurnishing and upgrades that will help create home-like accommodations where the 40 women and 30 children reside during treatment. Members will partner with the Aliviane staff enhancing the treatment and therapy room into a more vibrant healing space with new paint, furnishings and décor.
