JLEP Active Members of the Year
|
The Active Member of the Year is a member who has gone above and beyond her placement and this year’s recipient has done just that. This member is another bright light who is never seen without a smile and a kind word for her fellow members. She is the type of person who makes you feel happy about your work in Junior League. She is energetic, positive, and is always asking what else she can do for the League, even if it’s not necessarily in the job description for her placement. Our honoree started her Active League career in 2009, and although she has been a member just a few years, she has definitely made an impact on many lives. She has served on Membership Care and Nominating, but it was her work this year that showed this dynamo member is also an incredible leader. She is always the first to give her committee the credit and to encourage them to be part of something really special through League. It’s no wonder that her committee loves her, and was willing to help and move forward with the project when she was sick and in the hospital this year. Even time spent on bed rest didn’t stop our honoree from working with her committee to complete one of our League’s biggest projects, the Junior League of El Paso, Inc. Family Resource Center at the El Paso Children’s Hospital. The hospital opened, and the FRC was filled with books, computers, Family Information Notebooks, and joyous positive energy. Congratulations Sassie Colquitt for being our Active Member of the Year! |

JLEP Sustaining Member of the Year

The Sustaining Member of the Year is a member who, through her spirit of commitment to the standards, ideals, and purpose of the Junior League, has made outstanding contributions. This year’s honoree is a great example of the impact that can be made by a Sustaining Member. Our Sustaining Member of the Year is without a doubt one of the most dedicated and enthusiastic members of our League. She does not use the word “no,” and she is such a positive beautiful light for everyone with whom she comes in contact. This wonderful lady joined the Junior League of El Paso back in 1982 – 30 years ago! Some of her previous placements included chairing Christmas in April and serving on the Board in several different capacities. She uses her gifts of advocacy, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and management to benefit our League and the El Paso community. She has certainly enriched El Paso through her active community service career! She has provided invaluable support and help to the Junior League. Her can-do attitude and positive outlook are contagious – she effortlessly leads others to join with her to work toward the common good and to make a difference in the lives of others. She has done triple and quadruple duty this year, serving on multiple committees and as a Sustaining Advisor for the Family Resource Center and as the Sustaining Co-Chair to the Board. She was also inducted into the El Paso Women’s Commission Hall of Fame. Please congratulate our fabulous Sustaining Member of the Year, Susie Gorman! . |
